Dan Neesley established North Shore Computers, Inc. in Milwaukee, WI in 1978.  During the ensuing 15 years, North Shore Computers became one of the largest independent Apple Computer dealers and resellers of FileMaker in the world, employing over 100 people at facilities in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Following the sale of North Shore Computers in 1993 Neesley was employed as an internal database developer and technology consultant by a national sales and marketing company located in Milwaukee, Wi.

During the period 1993-2002 Neesley developed, implemented and maintained department and enterprise-wide database solutions for sales management, shipping ticketing, graphics libraries, and accounts payable management as well as serving as a technology consultant reporting directly to the president of the company.

In 2002 Neesley formed North Shore Techworks, an independent consulting company specializing in designing and customizing user interfaces for database and web applications.

Dan Neesley attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for the period 1962–1972 and earned a B.F.A. degree in Applied Tuba.  He was a student of Val Hayworth of the Milwaukee Symphony and Arnold Jacobs of the Chicago Symphony.  Neesley has been the tubaist for the Newberry Brass since its founding in 1974 and Principal Tuba of the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra since 1973.  Currently Mr. Neesley also performs in the internationally renowned Brass Band of Battle Creek, a professional brass band with members from Michigan; New York City; Chicago, Los Angeles; Washington, D.C.; and London, England.

In May 1992, Mr. Neesley presented a lecture titled Computers, Music and the Business of Music, at the 1992 International Tuba-Euphonium Conference held at the University of Kentucky, Lexington.  Neesley has also appeared as a soloist and lecturer at the United States Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Conference in Washington, D.C.

During 1968-70 and 1993-94, Neesley taught low brass students at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Lawrence University Conservatory of Music at Appleton, WI.

During his undergraduate education, Neesley worked in the Field Engineering division of IBM Corp.  In 1973, he completed the required course work for Wisconsin certification as an elementary school classroom teacher and was employed by the Brown Deer School District as an elementary school classroom teacher.

In his eight years in the Brown Deer School District, Neesley served on many district curriculum committees including service as chairperson of the district mathematics committee during its new curriculum adoption in 1976.  In 1979, he did graduate course work in School of Library Science, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, leading to his Wisconsin certification as School Librarian and Audio-Visual Media Coordinator and completed all course work for a Master of Library Science degree.

In 1981 Neesley left teaching to make North Shore Computers a full-time endevour in Milwaukee.

In 1994, Neesley was employed as a senior sales technology analyst by a national sales and marketing company in Milwaukee enabling him to continue his life-long daliance with technology while remaining active as a free-lance musician and a much sought-after sound recording engineer in southeast Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

In the summers of 1990-1995 Neesley single-handedly sponsored and produced a series of free outdoor summer concerts in Glendale, WI, titled Music in the Glen.  These concerts featured a variety of folk and instrumental music groups with regional and international reputations.  Continued years of Music in the Glen were made possible through a sustaining contribution by the Neesley family in 1994.

In 1992 the Glendale Lion’s Club named him Glendale Citizen of the year.

Neesley was also honored by the UWM Music Alumni Association with their Distinguished Alumni Award in the same year.
